Coach David Dunn was born in Huntsville, Alabama and moved to Cobb County at the age of  two.  He Played basketball and graduated from  Pebblebrook High School in 1982.  He then went on to play for John Thompson at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1983.  He played his freshman year along side premier NBA-Center, Patrick Ewing, as the Hoyas finished up the season losing to Memphis State in a match to advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

In 1983, Coach Dunn transferred closer to home to the University Georgia where he started for the Georgia Bulldogs his Junior and Senior seasons.  While playing for the Dawgs, he  appeared in one NCAA and two NIT tournaments.  In 1985, he represented the USA with Athletes in Action in Russia, Poland, & Austria.  Graduating with a Degree in Business Administration in 1986, Coach Dunn received SEC All Academic Honors .

After tryouts in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1987 and in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76rs and an invitation with the Boston Celtics in 1988, he went abroad playing for club teams in Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, & Japan.  While earning his Teaching Certification at Kennesaw State College, he retired from playing and began teaching and coaching at the college and high school level.  This included a NAIA tournament birth and conference championship as an assistant with Kennesaw State University and a Region Championship and state playoff birth with the Harrison Hoyas as an assistant in 1996.  Coach Dunn has spent the past 15 years as a high school coach and educator in Paulding, Cobb, and Cherokee Georgia.
